Studio Policies

In order to have a safe environment for in-person lessons, there will be new studio policies in place. By registering for in-person summer lessons, you agree to the following new summer policies:

1. Only the student having the lesson will be allowed in my house. No siblings or family members will be allowed in the waiting area. Siblings, who are waiting for their lesson, may wait on the outside glider.

2. The student should wait in their car until I open the door at their lesson time. If they ride their bike or walk, they can wait on the glider outside. Students will not be allowed into the house before their start time.

3. Parents are asked to stay in the car.

4. There will be a break in-between lessons to allow for social distancing (siblings can choose to have back to back lessons but cannot wait inside the house). Students will not be allowed in the house during the break to give me time to sanitize the teaching area.

5. After their lesson, students will wait outside for their ride to arrive. Please make sure to drop off and pick up your child on time to avoid having them wait outside. Be aware that once they leave my house I am no longer able to supervise them.

6. Due to the need to provide social distancing, the start and end times of lessons may be on the quarter hour. Please make sure you double check your lesson start and end time to ensure your child arrives and leaves on time.

7. My bathroom will be for emergency use only. Please encourage your child to use your bathroom before their lesson. Students need to arrive with clean hands. Family members of the student will not be allowed in my house to use the bathroom.

8. Students will be required to use hand sanitizer before and after their lesson.

9. Students are required to wear a mask. I will also be wearing a mask. If a student arrives without a mask, a disposable mask will be given to the student. The student’s parents will be charged $1.00 for the mask on their next invoice.

10. If you need to reschedule a lesson, you must notify me at least a half-hour before the start of your lesson to reschedule the lesson.

11. Students who do not not show up for a scheduled lesson will forfeit that lesson. Please do not ask me to reschedule if you forget the lesson. I realize it's hard to keep track of summer lessons, but I cannot afford to lose a valuable time slot if you forget about your lesson.

12. I have a neighbor who is very concerned about me teaching in-person. To help me maintain a positive relationship with my neighbors, please follow all social distancing guidelines when you are in my neighborhood.

13. Avoid parking in front of my neighbors' houses, in front of our mailbox, or blocking my husband from getting in and out of our garage.

14. Students are not allowed to chew gum or bring any food to their lesson.

15. Any student who has knowingly been exposed to COVID-19 or the flu, has a sick family member, or the student feels ill, has a fever, sore throat, cough, headache, stomachache, runny nose, sneezing, has lost their sense of taste or smell, shortness of breath, difficulties breathing, or has flu-like symptoms, should immediately cancel their lesson. Failure to do so could result in having their lessons permanently terminated at my piano studio. Please let me know if your child has seasonal allergies before their lesson.

Summer Rates

$25.00 per half hour for private in-studio and online lessons

Payment

Lessons are to be paid in advance for an entire month. Payment is due the first lesson of the month.  An invoice will be emailed to parents before the first lesson of the month. Payments can be made by check, PayPal or Zelle. Please do not leave checks in our mailbox.

Discontinuing Lessons

The teacher reserves the right to terminate lessons at any time. Any student who arrives for their lesson while feeling ill, is consistently not practicing, misbehaving during lessons, or the family is not respecting my studio policies, may have their lessons terminated.  Students may choose to discontinue lessons at anytime, but there will not be a refund for lessons already paid for.

I reserve the right to cancel in-person lessons if the lessons are creating an unsafe environment.

Students who don’t take summer lessons are at risk of not getting a fall time slot if I need to continue with social distancing in-between lessons this fall.

I hope parents will realize the importance of continuing with piano lessons during the summer. I have seen students lose their note reading and key identifying skills in as little as two weeks. I'm hoping we can give students a little "normal" at a time when nothing else seems normal in their life.
